50th Anniversary Reunion

Friday, 31 July through Sunday, 2 August 2026

The Otumoetai church of Christ first met in 1976. Many people have been part of this church since that time.

Te Aka Māori Dictionary defines the word “Tauranga” as a resting place, anchorage, fishing ground, place to land, mooring, landing pad or a terminal.

This reunion is for you, whether you have set your anchor here for a short time or if it is the place you have landed.

Reunion Schedule

We look forward to being taken on a celebratory journey by hearing speakers and panels, watching videos, enjoying fellowship and viewing photographs and displays that tell our story.

*Optional childcare will be available during some sessions.

Friday, 31 July

Saturday, 1 August

10am-12.30pm	Welcome and Worship      The Landing: (Howard Scott) The early years of the Otumoetai Church of Christ Surf’s Up: (Photos and Panel) The years of kids, teens, correspondence courses, students
12.30-1.30pm	Lunch
1.30-3pm	Waves and Tides: (Steve Raine) The church moving through changes Rough Seas and Safe Harbour: ( David R Nelson) The church in these last years
5.30-9pm	Reunion Dinner (Limited seats and must have pre-registered) Oaktree Restaurant, 170 Thirteenth Avenue, Tauranga South (Includes special honours for Chris and Melinda Miller. Facilitated by Veronica Gearhart.)

Sunday, 2 August

9.30-10.30am	Honouring Those Who Have Served (Bible classes for the children)
10.30-10.45am	Break
10.45-12pm	Worship Horizons: (Andrew Gearhart) Encouraging the church as we look to the future
12.30pm	Shared Lunch
